This community focuses on what happens when language learners are learning both language and content simultaneously. Members bring examples from across subjects and age groups, reflecting on strategies, expectations, and school systems. There’s space to share what’s worked and what still feels unresolved. You don’t need to have the answers—just a genuine interest in better practice.

Meet Your Hosts

Rachel Chen

Rachel brings more than 20 years of international classroom experience in China and Korea teaching multilingual learners. Her work focuses on practical language acquisition strategies, cross-cultural communication, and inclusive language acquisition frameworks, shaped by hands-on experience with translanguaging and technology integration. Passionate about peer-driven growth, she fosters communities where educators exchange solutions for linguistically diverse classrooms. Committed to collective wisdom, she believes educators thrive when they collaborate to strengthen their practice.

Kristy Goodman

Kristy Goodman has over 15 years of teaching experience in Asia, working in both international and local schools. She has supported English language learners in math, science, social studies, and English language arts through co-teaching and push-in models. Her teaching career spans every age level from kindergarten to high school. She is currently a DP Coordinator and University Counselor, bringing a unique perspective to supporting language learners as they transition to higher-level academic pathways. Kristy has previously participated in multiple PeerSphere communities and co-hosted the Women in Education Book Club, reflecting her commitment to collaboration and professional growth. Her career has taken her to Beijing, Hong Kong, Bangkok, New York City, Shanghai, and now Changchun. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, her cats, and listening to podcasts.
