This community is a space for professionals working in boarding schools or residential settings to reflect on practice, share approaches, and raise questions specific to this unique aspect of school life. Topics may include pastoral care models, wellbeing strategies, staff development, and the evolving expectations of students and families. Members bring a range of perspectives, from heads of boarding to house parents and safeguarding leads. The focus is on real conversations that support a whole-of-life approach to student care.

Head of Girls’ Boarding

Tracy Holt is an experienced boarding and pastoral professional with approximately 18 years of experience supporting children and young people across the UK, South Africa and Malaysia. She currently works as Head of Girls’ Boarding at an international school.
Throughout her career, Tracy has held a range of senior boarding, pastoral and safeguarding positions, including Head of Boarding, Deputy Head of Boarding, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Child Protection Officer. Her experience spans student wellbeing, safeguarding, behaviour management, staff leadership and development, residential operations, parent partnerships and creating positive, supportive boarding communities.
Tracy holds a Certificate of Professional Development in Boarding Education from Roehampton University and is a BSA Level 3 Boarding Practitioner. She has also undertaken extensive training in safeguarding, child protection, mental wellbeing, safer recruitment and pastoral leadership.
Passionate about the positive impact that boarding can have on young people's development, Tracy particularly values collaboration between boarding professionals and opportunities to share experiences, challenges and good practice. She believes that some of the most valuable professional learning comes from open conversations with colleagues who understand the unique rewards and complexities of boarding.
As a PeerSphere Boarding Community Host, Tracy looks forward to bringing boarding professionals together to connect, share ideas, learn from one another and explore practical approaches that can positively impact the lives of the young people in their care.
