Cross-cultural communication is part of daily life in international schools, but it’s rarely straightforward. This community brings together educators navigating multilingual and multicultural environments, both in and out of the classroom. Participants reflect on language, assumptions, and the invisible cultural scripts shaping interactions with students, parents, and colleagues. No single framework is imposed—members bring experiences, questions, and examples from diverse roles. Come ready to unpack, share, and reframe.
These are crucial opportunities to connect, share ideas, and learn from each other.

Born and raised in Singapore, he pursued his tertiary education in the U.S. , and spent over 15 years working in China before returning to the U.S. , for a decade. With a background in intercultural studies, Henry enjoys observing cultural nuances and making meaningful connections.
Lucas Roberts
Dr. Lucas J. Roberts (“Luke”) has worked in international schools across China as a teacher, Head of Primary, Head of Secondary, and Head of School. He regularly serves as a WASC accreditation visiting committee member and chair around Asia, which has greatly broadened his outlook on schools, and has enabled him to understand the cultural and systems challenges educators face in providing consistent, high-quality education with a global perspective for all students. For Luke, joy in education comes from schools and families partnering together on behalf of children to create a positive, proactive, fun, and high-quality learning community. Earning a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies helped spark Luke’s belief that learning, rather than being isolated, should help students see patterns and connections across subjects with an emphasis on life skills and character development. Luke earned a Master of Divinity, an M.Ed. in Educational Administration, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership. His doctoral dissertation examined the phenomenon of discrimination experienced by racially and ethnically diverse educators working in the international school industry in China. He is a researcher, author, and conference speaker on a range of topics in education.

I am impressed by the sharing on Instructional Coaching and have been implementing this in my school and this is a very useful form of support to teachers, especially new ones. It is very important to learn from and be inspired by peers. The sessions are very well run!
After hearing our peer present his situation, we all asked several clarifying questions. For instance, I was curious about the type of evaluation process he would use. We could then ideate with him and share our experiences based on a variety of schools where we had all worked.
