Mathematics Teachers (Secondary)

Generative and collaborative Peer Learning Community for Mathematics Teachers

Welcome to our community of international school secondary math teachers who are passionate about continuous improvement of instruction and leadership!

Together, we will collaborate on how to promote enthusiastic student all math teachers, novice to veteran, to join this inclusive community. In this community, we will build a network of partners who share a desire to develop students with a strong foundation of skills that allow flexible problem solving, critical thinking, and conceptual understanding. Together, we will share triumphs, challenges, and resources as we support each other in fostering engaged, curious mathematical minds.

Heidi Rhodes

As a young teacher-leader, Heidi encountered the power of teachers learning together toward improving student achievement; she and her 16 high school math colleagues made dramatic improvement in their school’s math test scores over five years. In that experience, the team proved true their theory of action – if students are empowered to collaboratively solve rich mathematics problems, they will develop perseverance and understanding, and their scores will increase. Those early years shaped Heidi’s deep respect for teachers and the necessity of building a shared vision of excellent pedagogy together. She has been in education for over 30 years as a teacher and a secondary mathematics specialist in the U.S, China, and Thailand, and she remains convinced that effective teaching is rooted in teacher learning, and that teacher learning is best done in a community of other professional educators.
