About the Conference

The ACAMIS Student Leadership Conference on Sports Leadership brings together student athletes, team captains, activity leaders, and faculty advisers who want to strengthen the role of sport in school life.

This one-day, in-person conference is designed for school teams of up to 5 students and 1 to 2 faculty advisers. Schools will attend as teams, with students and advisers learning together and separately throughout the programme.

Sports leadership is about more than performance. It is about how students build team culture, include others, respond to pressure, model sportsmanship, and help younger students find confidence through participation.

The Central Question

How does sport contribute to building stronger teams, stronger communities, and stronger student leaders?

Students will explore how leadership shows up before, during, and after competition. They will consider the role of captains, house leaders, activity organisers, peer coaches, and students who help create a positive sports culture across the school.

Intended Outcomes

By the end of the conference, participating teams will:

Recognise how student leadership can strengthen sport before, during and after competition

Identify practical ways to build positive team culture, belonging and inclusive participation

Develop an action that strengthens sports leadership within their school

Explore how student leaders can model sportsmanship, respond to pressure and support younger athletes

Build connections with students and faculty advisers from other ACAMIS schools
